Classroom teaching suspended in Odisha

Classroom Teaching on Hold in Odisha from April 27 to May 2 Amid Heatwave

In a notification, the Department of Higher Education announced that all classroom teaching for UG and PG in all higher education institutions will remain suspended from April 27, 2022.

โ€œThe authorities will suspend all classroom teaching from April 27 (tomorrow) till May 2, 2022 due to the prevailing heat wave condition.โ€

Other activities of higher education institutions (HEIs), such as examinations, evaluation, administrative work, research work, and so on, will, however, continue as usual.

The authorities require teaching and non-teaching employees to remain present in their respective HEIs, as on a normal working day. They are to perform the above-mentioned activities or any other activity assigned to them by their authority during this period.โ€

On Monday, the Odisha government announced the closure of all schools in the state for a period of five days starting today.

โ€œThe government has carefully considered the situation and decided to suspend classes at all educational institutions under the S&ME Department. This includes Government, Government-aided, and privately managed (Odia and English medium) from 26.04.2022 to 30.04.2022. This does not affect examinations already scheduled by BSE and CHSE,โ€ read a letter issued by the School and Mass Education Department.

Despite the closure of schools, the upcoming matriculation or class 10 and +2 board examinations will be held as per schedule, the notification added.
