Cloud Computing is a process of delivering/enabling scalable, expandable and almost perfectly elastic software services using internet technologies. It is an ideal way to deliver enterprise applications as Software as a Service (SaaS) in which users pay-per-use basis. In this, rather than keeping files on a proprietary hard drive or local storage device, these are stored on remote servers with access through the internet. As far as on-premise ERP software solutions are concerned, they are installed locally, on a company’s computers and servers, and then managed by own IT staff. Furthermore, on-premise ERP systems often include heavy software maintenance (and, sometimes, support) costs, which must be paid annually to receive vendor support, upgrades and so on. Unlike on-premise ERP solutions, Cloud ERP solutions are available as SaaS, and its associated data are managed centrally (on the Internet "cloud") by the ERP vendor and are accessed by customers using a web browser. Cloud ERP is a subscription service to an ERP system — you pay on a subscription basis to use the system, and you access it anywhere through any device connected to the internet. Data is stored in the cloud and hosted on another party’s servers, not your company’s servers. Subscription terms can vary. The main benefits associated with cloud-ERP are Reduced IT Costs, Enhanced Security, Scalability, Performance, & Mobility.
